The WP Twin Solution to Safeguard Against Website Hackers

WP TwinOne of my online friends recently shared a story with me about how their website was hacked into during a launch.  The whole website went down and when individuals arrived at the website all they saw was a 404 error message that said as you can probably guess:

“Page not found.”

Everything gone.  It’s not the first time that I’ve heard this happen to someone during a launch or some other major promotion.

And the thing is my friend didn’t even realize that their website was down until they received emails from some of the individuals who had been attempting to access the website.

My friend had a team of experts working on the case but the person who created the website was not available.  The thing that saved the day was that when the website was built they insisted that a backup version of the website be submitted on physical CDs and it was these that were used to restore the website.

However, the process of unraveling what had happened and getting the website up and running again took 5 days!  It goes without saying that this very costly not just financially but also mentally as well.

This is why I’m so grateful for WP Twin.  WP Twin allows you to create a clone of your WordPress website in a matter of minutes.  You can use this clone as a backup or you can use it as a template or foundation for a new website.  While this is something that you can outsource, it is really easy to do.

I used to manually backup my WordPress websites but when you have sites that are updated and or changed on a regular basis then, even though creating a WP Twin clone is fast and easy to do, it can become somewhat tedious.

And so I switched to automatic version of WP Twin.  It’s so easy to do.  You set up a Cron job where you can specify how often you want to backup your websites.  For some websites a weekly backup will suffice but, in other cases, daily or even more frequent backups may be prudent.

The backups are created in a secure htaccess file on your hosting account and so only you have access to them.  Naturally, from time to time, you’ll need to delete the redundant backup files but should something ever to your website you can rest assured that, so long as you have an Internet connection, you can get your WordPress website up and running again in a matter of a few minutes.

This works for small websites as well as large websites, simple websites as well as complex websites.

There are easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions on how to clone a website using WP Twin and how to use the automatic backup version of WP Twin.  But I didn’t even look at the user-guide.  I simply followed the demo videos.  And I really am not very technically-minded at all.  So, if I can do this, I believe anyone can.

Of course, in order to get the auto backup version of WP Twin you first have to buy WP Twin itself but purchasing this as well as the auto backup version is an investment that will pay for itself many times over.  The auto backup version of WP Twin is also great if you create and or maintain websites for other clients.
